"Anytime, Anywhere, Any Weather" - Marin County Search &
Rescue, a division of the Marin County Sheriff’s Department, is
a volunteer organization comprised of approximately 70 volunteer members
ranging in age from 14 – 75. The Unit responds to over 35 incidents
a year throughout Northern California, working closely with the Marin
County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Air Patrol and statewide canine
teams to locate and assist missing people in wilderness and urban settings.
Marin Search & Rescue also supports our local and county law enforcement
during evidence searches.
The Unit has been designated as an all-risk response team and saves
the taxpayers of Marin over $700,000 annually (based on Sheriff's
Department estimates) by providing search and rescue services for
missing children, Alzheimer’s patients and crime scene evidence.
The Unit is recognized throughout the Bay Area and California for
their professionalism, their youth program and the ability to field
mission ready teams "Anytime, Anywhere, Any Weather".
Donations help us fund our annual activities such as specialized rescue
training courses, medical training, equipment procurement, and mission
specific supplies (perishables, light sticks, batteries, etc). We also
fund a youth scholarship program based on leadership, academic achievement,
and dedication to the unit. As a non-profit organization, daily operations
are dependent on funding from private individuals, organizations, volunteer
members and the support of the Sheriff's office.
Marin County Search and Rescue is
a volunteer non-profit organization. It is registered as such in the
State of California and with the Federal Government under Section 501(c)(3)
of the IRS code.
