| Marin County Search & Rescue
hosted the International Conference on Mountain Rescue
June 15 - 18. It was an amazing weekend with gorgeous
weather and packed days of learning for all!
Post Conference Photos and Links:
Please check back here often as we will be putting
up numerous post conference items such as, winning
photos from the photo contest, links to handouts
from the lectures, tshirts
for sale and much more. At this time we
have no lost and found items from the conference. The
local paper, the Marin IJ ran an article about the conference.

Lectures:
Some of the lectures were the results of MRA Research
Grants. More information is available about those classes
on the MRA
Grant site. Dr. Jo Feldman taught a great class
on High Altitude Medicine, and has made available her
handout on High Alititude Medicine.
Photos:
A local freelance photographer took over 900 photos
of the conference and has them available
here to view and/or purchase. We are also aware
that lots of the conference participants have photos
that they took. If you would like to share them, we
can link to your online photo album or we can provide
access to our
online photo gallery for you to upload them to.

Conference
Overview:
The MRA Workshop and Conference offered hands on exercises,
opportunities to discuss the various solutions to the
field problems, and created a forum for dialogue on
the similarities and differences within the Mountain
Rescue Community.
We incorporated the following SAR areas with interactive
group exhibitions: Technical Rock, Cliff Rescue, Helicopter
and Wilderness search venues and conduct exercises and
trainings utilizing each visiting team’s resources
and specialization.
The Conference was held at the Headlands Institute
located on the southwest edge of Marin County, where
the Pacific Ocean meets the San Francisco Bay. It is
part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the
largest urban national park in the world. The Institute
is surrounded by over 140,000 acres of coastal park
lands from the Golden Gate Bridge to Point Reyes National
Seashore. Overlooking the calm waters of Rodeo Lagoon
and the crashing waves off Rodeo Beach, the Institute
provided a superb venue for the 2006 MRA Conference.
